January 2011 Parent News & Notes

The Growing Place @ Aversboro Road Baptist Church

News from the Director - Sharon Silver

Hi, parents, and welcome back to school. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your families. Thank you so much for all your gifts, cards, and thoughtfulness.

Due to the recent snow, March 25th will be used as a snow make-up day. Also, the Christmas program has been rescheduled for Monday, January 10, at 9:45 in the ARBC Sanctuary. This will not be an early release day.

As a reminder, in the event of inclement weather, we will follow the instruction of WCPSS. If the public school system opens late, TGP will also open late with the same delay but we will not open later than 11:15. If WCPSS should close early, parents are to pick up their children as soon as possible.

During these cold months of January – March, we urge you to send cold weather clothing (labeled) daily – gloves, hats, and heavy coats.

Please note the important dates below:

Jan. 17             School closed (MLK Holiday)

Jan. 20-21        Pajama Days

Jan. 25             February tuition due

Jan. 26-27        Parent/Teacher Conferences

Feb. 1              2011-2012 registration begins

I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Christmas break together, celebrating the many gifts God has given us – from His Son, Jesus to be our Savior, to the beautiful snow we enjoyed! Again, if you are seeking a church where you as a family can grow in your faith and worship God, we invite you to join us any Sunday or Wednesday! Our church website has information about all our ministries: www.arbc-garner.org. We hope to see you soon!

We hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for the second half of preschool. We are so excited to be back!! Thanks to all the parents who donated paper, ribbon, tape, and candy canes. Our gift wrapping center was the big hit of December. We would like to say a “Big Thank You” for all the Christmas gifts; we really do appreciate all of your kindnesses to both of us.

January will be a busy month!! Our centers will focus on the season of winter, what bears and other animals do in winter, and penguins. We will continue working on the numbers 9 and 10. Writing our first name will also be a priority this month. If you practice at home, please do so in this manner: Tim, Sue (only the first letter is capitalized). Thank you!

You will also find the new sign up sheet for “The Mystery Reader” outside our classroom door. Please sign up if you would like to be a part of this fun activity.

We hope that 2011 will be a great year for all of us!!!!!!
