Opportunities for Adults in Student Ministry
Ministry to Students in Grades 6-12 and College Students

Our Student Ministry exists to REACH teenagers with the love of Christ, to help them to GROW in their faith to CONNECT them with other believers, = to equip them to SERVE others and to CELEBRATE Christ.

If you are interested in exploring how you can be involved at any level in our Student Ministry, please complete the information at the end of this brochure or contact one of the following:

For the safety of our students, we perform a background check on all volunteers serving with the students at Aversboro Road Baptist Church.

Here are some of the ways you can be involved!

ACTS Host Home
Host homes are needed for student events throughout the year. If you have a pool, game room, large basement, large yard or a place for teenager to hang out together then there is a place for you in our ministry.  Let us know what you have to offer and we will take you up on the offer!

Chaperone
We are always in need of adults who love teenagers and will provide guidance and care for them as they participate in student ministry events.  There are several areas of need where adults can serve, including:

  • Single events – day or evening
  • Short term events – overnight events, weekend retreats
  • Extended events – camps, mission projects

Coach
Coaches are needed for a variety of opportunities. If you have special skills in any of these areas – we need you!

  • Student Drama Team Coach
  • Student Praise Team/Ensemble Coach
  • Student Instrumental Ensemble Coach
  • Games Coach  - small group and large group games
  • Sports Teams Coach - Basketball, Softball, Soccer

College Ministry Team
Help is needed to reach, disciple and minister to college students both on local campuses, and those attending away from home.  Sending care packages, cards, letters and leading Bible studies, mission projects and ministry events are just of the few areas where you can serve.  If you have a passion for college students – we need you!

DiscipleNow Host Home
Homes are needed who will allow small groups to have a weekend sleepover!  Hosts for DiscipleNow allow students to bring their sleeping bags and Bibles to stay for the weekend.  Groups can range from 10 -25 students based on what you can handle. Host homes are asked to provide a continental breakfast on Saturday and Sunday for the students, and they bring all the snacks and paper goods.  Bible studies also take place during the weekend – hosts are always invited to participate. Students also spend the weekend in worship at the church and in ministry or recreational activities away from the homes on Saturday afternoon.

Encourager
Students need encouragement. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 directs us to “encourage one another” as well as many other passages of scripture. Encouragers pray for a specific student and send cards or letter of encouragement. They keep track of student involvement and encourage students as they seek to discover God and how God has called them to a specific place in ministry. Adults who serve in this role help students to stay active in the life of the church. Some students in our ministry come from homes without Christian parents to provide spiritual encouragement – encouragers are vital assets to these students.

Mentor
Mentors provide long term support, encouragement, and spiritual guidance to a student.  Modeled after the Big Brother – Big Sister concept – mentors are needed to guide students in a variety of areas: academic, social, and spiritual growth.  If you are willing to invest your life into the life of a teenager - this is a place for you!

Office Help
Ministry assistance is needed in our student ministry office for computer work, mailings, event registration, accounting and more!

Parent Ministry
Our vision is to partner with parents as they seek to guide their students through the teenage years. Our ministry includes educational events, prayer events, resouces, and support groups for Parents of Students. Help us know how we can help you as you seek to raise your child as the Lord guides you.

Paul/Timothy Team
New believers need a guide as they begin their walk with Jesus. Modeled after the relationship between Paul and Timothy as found in scripture, adults meet one-on-one with students for six weeks to help them begin their journey of faith. Leaders (Paul’s) are trained and provided the resources they need to help students.

Student Bible Study Leader
The key to our ministry is making our big group smaller by dividing into smaller Bible Study Groups. These groups meet weekly on Sunday Mornings at 9:45 am.  We are also in the process of developing additional Bible Study groups that meet during the week to meet the needs of students unable to attend regularly on Sunday Mornings. Bible study leaders work with a team of adults to provide learning experiences that guide students to discover the truths of God’s Word for themselves.

Student Discipleship Leader
Small group – short term studies are offered for Junior and Senior High students. Leaders guide students to explore the Bible with the goal of developing their faith. Our goal is that students will discover the biblical foundations for why they believe what they believe.  Discipleship studies also help students to discover how God has shaped them for their PLACE in ministry.

Student FAITH Team Leader/Driver
Student FAITH is our strategy to equip students and their leaders in becoming Great Commission Christians who are on mission in ministry and evangelism.  Each three member team has at least one adult who serves as the team driver and as a mentor to the student members.

Support Group Leader
Students today deal with all kinds of issues in their lives where they need to be part of a support group ministry. Support groups can cover a variety of needs from divorce recovery, addictions, teenage moms, grief and more. If God has shaped you for a support ministry – contact our Minister to Students to discuss how you can help meet the growing needs of today’s teenagers.

Student Leader Prayer Partner
Adults who partner with specific Student Ministry Leaders to pray for the specific needs of the leader, and the students with whom they minister.  Prayer guides are given to help Partners begin in this ministry.  Prayer partner also meet together periodically to pray for specific ministry needs, events, and projects of our student ministry.  They also communicate prayer needs to the church family.

Student Life Team |
Keeping up with students is a full time job! We need adults who will help us keep up with student achievements, ball games, dramas, illness, special events, special needs and more. This is a great place for parents or grandparents to serve!
