What is Operation In As Much?

Operation In As Much (OIAM) provides a one day emphasis for our church to come together in an effort to work to meet the needs of the people of our community, our neighbors. Please check back to our website as the date of Satuday May 5, 2012 approaches to see how you can become involved. For further details or to share your ideas, contact Joe Sinclair, our Minister to Students

Some have described Operation InAsMuch (OIAM) as being a one-day, hands on, missions blitz of one's community. By missions we mean that we are performing ministry to the hurts and hopes of those in our community. OIAM is also an intergenerational event and in some cases may be an interracial and interdenominational event that mobilizes Christians to heal some of the hurts of a neighborhood or an entire community. OIAM is . . .

    • . . . a day devoted to helping people at their points of need.
    • . . . reaching out to strangers in Christian love and understanding.
    • . . . fostering racial harmony through working together
    • . . . a surge in spiritual growth.
    • . . . acknowledging the mission field in one’s own backyard.
    • . . . accepting the Great Commission.
    • . . . strengthening Christian fellowship.
    • . . . discovering how one’s personal gifts can be used in mission work.

An important descriptive sentence coined by David Crocker is, Operation InAsMuch is Christians doing the work of the church instead of church work.

Each year we are in need of one person to assume leadership for each project that we conduct. That leader is then responsible to enlist their team. They, with the help of their team develop the plan of attack for the day. It is always important for the Project Leader to communicate all plans with the Planning Team, providing themr with cell phone numbers in case there is a need for communication during the day.

Schedule for the Day:

·     The day generally begins at 7:30 am with a devotional send off by the pastor in the church’s south parking lot

·     Some projects begin before 7:30 am and end by mid morning

·     Some projects begin later in the day and last until mid afternoon.

·     Other projects begin at 8:00 am and end when they get finished; sometimes late in the afternoon.

·     Generally all projects are completed by 5:00 pm.

·     Lunch is at the discretion of the project team.
