A native of North Carolina, Harvey H. Whaley, Jr. graduated from high school in Richlands, NC, and attended Campbell University in Buies Creek, earning his Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Religion. He received his Master of Divinity at Southeastern Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, and finally his Doctorate was earned at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, CA. He served as Pastor of Peter’s Creek Baptist Church in Roseboro, NC, for 3 ½ years, moving on to Wrightsboro Baptist Church in Wilmington, NC, where he served as Senior Pastor for 17 years. His denominational activities include service on many committees and teaching at area and statewide conferences and conventions. He has also served on the Raleigh Baptist Association’s Nominating Committee as Chairman and on the Capital Campaign Committee for the RBA’s new Associational offices. He served on the Executive Committee of the Baptist State Convention, as President of the Baptist State Convention Program Committee, and as a member of the Board of Ministers at Campbell University. He and his wife, Ramona, have two children, and are proud three young grandchildren, two boys and girl. He accepted the call to Aversboro Road Baptist in May of 1998. When he is able to find free time you will likely find him happily enjoying the golf course with friends.
